Sappho Called one Day: My conversation with the ancient poetess

A poetess creates from
Her femininity,
a powerful force that causes delight;
this causes a softening
in the listener's heart
through the vehicle
of her voice and her feeling art.

I'm here to tell you
and thank you for your ear
as well as your attention
and you precious time,
I will tell the ancient tale
of the greatest poetess
that ever lived.
A mortal muse
Who joined the rest
Was Sappho
The ancient poetess.
 
Influential poets
have been influenced
by Sappho's poetic grace,
she alone shaped poetry
into the expression of emotion
that we know today,
and like an ancient, raw stream of feelings
Sappho comes through
in modern poetry and songs of today;
this is why she is called
the tenth muse by all
who know of her contributions
to the singing arts and it's true,
she really was all that.

In ancient times
before modern school arrived
in Lesbos lived Sappho,
a very ancient woman with a voice.
In a time when women
were silent or unable to write,
Sappho was creating music and songs
not only to the gods
she was the first to sing of her passion,
her friendships, her family, and her Love.

Many years after her death
Even into our modern days,
Sappho's influence remains
and she won in the end
for poetry is now the continuation 
of her domain, that of the heart.
I called out to Sappho in my poetic way
and asked Aphrodite to connect me to the muse.
