Every February, a specific energy takes hold: flowers, love notes, fantasies of perfect weddings, and the deep hunger to be chosen. This isn’t just a modern marketing creation. Beneath the surface of Valentine’s season pulses an ancient current, the enduring power of the Roman goddessĀ Venus.
Venus was far more than a “love goddess.” She embodied desire, beauty, fertility, prosperity, and victory. She was both a deeply personal and a powerfully civic force, considered the ancestress of the Roman people. When we focus on romance and union in February, we are reactivating her field.
The Layers Beneath Valentine’s Day:
While the date February 14th comes from Christian martyrs, its romantic tone was a medieval addition, creating a perfect bridge for older, pagan energies to flow into a new form.
The ancient Roman festival ofĀ LupercaliaĀ (February 15th) celebrated fertility and vitality with wild, public rites. Though not directly honoring Venus, its core concern, the pairing of bodies and futures, sits firmly within her domain.
Over centuries, the intense seasonal focus on fertility and pairing from Lupercalia and the divine authority of Venus gradually softened and reframed into the romantic ceremonies we know today.
Our Modern Rituals Are Roman at Heart: The cherubs (Cupid was Venus’s son), the hearts, the belief that love deserves grand gestures, legal recognition, and sacred symbols, these are all inheritances from a Roman worldview. Love was seen as a destiny-shaping force worthy of public ceremony and divine blessing, an intuition we still echo every February.

On the February Leo Full Moon, the Moon lifted a golden chalice to the sky and Venus answered.
Not the soft-focus cartoon of Venus youāve seen on Valentineās cards, but the ancient one: copper-blooded, sea-born, bright as a blade, walking out of the foam with salt in her hair and entire empires forgetting their names when she looks their way. She is not here to ask if you are lovable. She is here because you already are, and she is tired of watching you argue.
Celebrating Venus during the Leo full moon is not just romance, it is radiance. It is the part of you that wants to dress for the life you are calling in, not the life youāre barely tolerating. Itās the way your spine lengthens when you remember you are allowed to take up space in every room you enter. Itās the heat in your chest when you watch someone live boldly and a voice inside whispers, āThatās me, before I learned to dim.ā
In this moonās temple, Venus is She Who Enthrones the Heart.
She moves through the chambers of your life like a queen inspecting her palace. In the Hall of Work, she runs her fingers over the places youāve traded joy for constant proving, creativity for survival, devotion for āwhat will they think?ā In the Hall of Love, she pauses at the doors that never quite opened for you, the text threads that die with a breadcrumb, the little shrines you build in your mind to people who never once built one to you.
She does not pity you. She does something far more dangerous: she remembers you.
She remembers the child who twirled without checking who was watching. She remembers the first time you loved without strategy, without angles, without calculating what version of you would be least rejected. She remembers the way you used to create, doodles, stories, playlists, outfits, altars, for the sheer pleasure of seeing beauty exist where there was empty space before.
Venus on this full moon was not asking you to become someone else. She was asking you to stop abandoning the one who was there from the beginning.
She said:
āBeloved, you have mistaken starvation for modesty. You have called it humility to sit at the edge of your own feast, waiting for someone to invite you to the table you set.
I did not carve your heart from starlight and sea-salt so it could spend its life apologizing for wanting warmth.
Your longing to be cherished is not a flaw; it is the homing signal I stitched into your nervous system so you would never settle for rooms where you have to beg for crumbs.ā
On a night like this, Venus prowls the borders between sacred and ordinary. She is present in the way you choose your earrings, the way you arrange your sheets, the way you decide whether to text first or wait, whether to say āIām fineā or tell the truth. She is in every moment you decide you are worth the extra five minutes of care.
Valentineās season belongs to her, but not in the way youāve been sold. She is not the patron saint of desperation, couplesā packages, and red roses bought out of obligation. She is the guardian of mutual delight. Of eye contact that feels like sunlight. Of the quiet, fierce decision: āIf love cannot meet me where my soul lives, I would rather pour that love back into my own altar and into the world.ā
Under this Leo moon, her energy poured down like warm honey and wildfire.
You might feel it as an ache: Why have I played it so safe with my heart? You might feel it as a spark: What would it mean to be loyal to my desires instead of my fears? You might feel it as a dare: What if I let myself be fully seen by someone who has actually earned that privilege, starting with myself?
Venus laughs at your checklist and leans in closer.
She is not interested in whether you are āon trackā according to anyoneās timeline. She is interested in whether your life feels like a poem or an obligation. She wants your laughter to return to your body like a migration home. She wants your creativity to spill out of the cages you built for it. She wants your bedroom, your friendships, your calendar, your mirror to become places where you are not performing worthiness but reveling in it.
And yes, she is the mistress of touches and kisses and date nights and tangled sheets, but she will tell you a secret:
The most magnetic thing you can wear this Valentineās season is not perfectly winged eyeliner or the right outfit.
It is a heart that has stopped begging and started choosing.
Choosing who gets access. Choosing where your time goes. Choosing which invitations are true yeses and which are a slow erosion of your light. Choosing to pour as much attention into your own sacred life as you have always poured into other peopleās stories.
On this Leo Full Moon, Venus was less āBe my Valentine?ā and more āBe your own lover first and then see who can meet you there.ā
She invites you to:
Dress for the version of you who knows they are an answered prayer. Light a candle not to fix yourself, but to witness yourself. Write down the loves you are calling in: in romance, in friendship, in community, in your work, in your body. Refuse, gently but firmly, anything that requires you to shrink to be held.
If her words make you bristle, thatās all right. Venus has always been controversial. She threatens cynicism by insisting that beauty still matters, that touch still heals, that pleasure is not frivolous but revolutionary for those who were taught to be useful instead of loved.
But if something in you lights up, if your shoulders drop and your spine quietly straightens as you read this, then know that she is already working.
This is the current that runs beneath the Leo Full Moon in February in my Temple of the Moon Goddess. We donāt just talk about Venus; we give her a night, a room, a ritual, a place to touch your real life. We enthrone the heart with candlelight, words, movement, and honest ink on the page, so that when the moon sets, something in you does not go back to sleep.
Because this is what goddess energy really is in the modern age: not an escape from reality, but a way of remembering that your reality is worthy of devotion.
And Venus, shimmering in Leoās golden roar, is here to ask you one question that might change everything:
āWill you finally sit on the throne I built out of your own unedited, unapologetic heart?ā
Learn about Venus and how to get close to her here:
Venus speaks to us under the lovely glow of this Leo full moon:
Beloved, February has a way of making you pretend you donāt care about love, even when your heart is listening extra closely. The Leo Full Moon with Venus doesnāt come to shame you for wanting more; she comes to remind you that you were never meant to live on emotional crumbs. Your desire to be seen, chosen, and cherished is not a weakness. It is a sign that your heart still remembers its own worth.
Venus is the voice inside you that whispers you are allowed to take up space, to enjoy your own reflection, to ask for mutual effort in relationships, and to build a life that feels warm instead of merely āfine.ā When you suddenly feel that tiny spark that says maybe I deserve more than this, that is goddess energy moving through your system, nudging you toward a future where your love and your light are not afterthoughts. You donāt have to do anything elaborate to receive it; even one honest breath with your hand over your heart is enough for her to find you.
If this speaks to something quiet and true in you, my Full Moon Goddess Messages on Koāfi are made for that part. Each month I channel a focused message from the goddess of the moon, like Venus for this Leo Full Moon, so you can receive guidance, comfort, and courage in a few potent paragraphs. They are simple to read, deep enough to stir your soul, and easy to keep close when you need a reminder that you are already loved and already worthy.
Let us meditate together for romantic Union during the full moon in Venus (Feb 1st). Feel free to use this guided meditation. Thank you for being here, and I will continue to share full moon goddess materials.
Meditation
Close your eyes, beloved, and let your body find a position that feels supported and at ease, seated or lying down, spine long, heart softening.
Take a slow breath in through your nose, letting the air fill your chest, your ribs, your belly. Hold for a gentle count of three. Exhale slowly through your mouth, as if you are sighing out the weight of the day.
Again: breathe in, letting your heart space rise and open. Hold. Exhale, and imagine anything heavy around your heart sliding down and out, into the earth.
One more time, deep inhale. Gentle hold. Slow exhale. Let your breath now fall into a natural, steady rhythm, like the tide moving in and out under a moonlit sky.
Now, with your eyes still closed, imagine the night around you. Above you, the Moon is full in Leo: a great golden lantern in the sky, radiant, warm, and regal. Her light does not glare; it glows, like candlelight on polished gold.
See that lunar light pouring down in a soft column, touching the crown of your head, brushing your forehead, your throat, and then resting, warm and steady, over your heart. This light is healing for you. Accept any healing your being is ready for. Each breath you take draws more of that Leo moonlight into your chest. Inhale: the light flows in. Exhale: the light settles and expands through your ribs, your shoulders, your upper back.
Now, in the center of that moonlit space in your chest, imagine a small throne. It may look like carved stone, living vines, warm wood, or pure light. Or by Venus’ grace, what about a crystal or gold throne. This is the throne of your heart, the place where your love, your courage, and your desire are meant to sit in honor. Honor your heart.
For a moment, notice: has this throne been empty? Has someone else been sitting there, another person, an old story, a fear of being ātoo muchā? Simply notice, without judgment, and with each breath, let the Leo moonlight gently clear away whatever does not belong on that throne.
Now, call Venus. Not a cartoon Valentine, but the living goddess of love and beauty, of magnetic presence and sacred desire. See her stepping into the moonbeam beside you, shimmering in rose-gold light, eyes bright and kind.
Feel her presence: warm, confident, unapologetically loving.
She places one hand on your back between your shoulder blades, one hand lightly over your heart. Her touch is both soothing and activating, like warm water and starlight at once.
Hear her voice in whatever tone feels most natural to you, and let her speak into your heart:
āYou are not here to beg for love. You are here as love. You are not here to prove your worthiness. You are here to remember it.ā
As she speaks, feel the throne in your heart becoming more solid, more real. Venus invites you now to sit upon it. With your next inhale, imagine yourself stepping forward inside your own heart, turning, and lowering yourself onto that inner throne. Feel how it supports you. Notice how it feels to sit as if you were inherently worthy of tenderness, of devotion, of being cherished.
If any resistance arises, doubts, old pain, fears about romance, or being seen, acknowledge them softly. Then see the Leo full moon above you, brightening, pouring more light into your chest, washing through those old patterns like warm, golden rain. You donāt need to fix everything in this moment; you only need to sit, and breathe, and allow.
Now bring your awareness to romantic love and union, in whatever way that is true for you right now. You might be in partnership, calling in partnership, healing from heartbreak, or simply deepening your relationship with your own soul. There is no wrong way to be here.
Gently, ask your heart: āWhat kind of love feels safe and radiant for me now? What kind of union, with another or with myself, allows me to stay on my throne?ā Do not force an answer. Simply let any sensations, images, or words float up from the heart space, carried on your breath like small petals on water.
Now feel Venus standing beside your throne, as if this full moon and the coming Valentineās season are a corridor she is walking you through. She leans close, and you hear:
āIn this month of hearts and roses, you are not a bargain to be hunted for a sale. You are an altar. Every romance that approaches you, including the one you have with your own life, must bow to this truth.ā
Let those words sink in. Feel how they change the way you sit, the way your shoulders rest, the way your chest opens. If it feels right, place your physical hand over your heart and breathe into your palm, as if you are blessing your own body with this understanding.
Now, bring to mind one simple intention for this Leo full moon with Venus, something gentle and clear: āI allow myself to be loved in ways that honor my heart.ā āI choose relationships where I can shine and feel safe.ā āI am ready to heal the story that says I must shrink to be loved.ā
Choose one sentence, or let your own arise. Repeat it silently with your breath three times.
On the first repetition, feel the words fill your chest. On the second, feel them expand through your whole body. On the third, imagine the words rising up to the full moon, to Venus, as a clear signal sent into the subtle currents of this month.
Know that as Valentineās approaches, you are not waiting passively for love to find you. You are already generating a field of love from your own enthroned heart, and that field will quietly shape the invitations, relationships, and decisions that come your way.
Take a few more breaths in the moonlit temple of your chest. See Venus smiling, knowing that this is only a beginning, a prelude to deeper ritual, deeper healing, deeper union. She touches your shoulder once more and says:
āRemember this feeling when the world starts shouting about love. Remember that you have a throne inside you. Sit here first, and let everything else come from there.ā
When you are ready, imagine the Leo full moonās light softening, becoming a gentle glow that stays inside your heart as a small, steady flame. The throne remains. Your seat is waiting whenever you close your eyes and return.
Begin to deepen your breath. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Feel the surface beneath you, the room around you.
On your next exhale, let your eyes slowly open, carrying with you the quiet radiance of your own enthroned heart, already in conversation with Venus, already preparing for the full moon and the season of love ahead.

Ishtar, a super ancient Love goddess and likely an Aphrodite predecessor, was this goddess, she was a goddess of war and love, and she had lion pets.
I built my 2026 Full Moon Goddess Calendar around specific goddesses who walk with us through the year. Each one holds a different part of our healing: rest, descent, shadow, courage, abundance, instinct.
Here are a few of the goddesses youāll meet.
Selene is the soft, luminous mother of the night sky. She appears on the Cancer full moons, holding your nervous system when you are overwhelmed. Her rituals in the calendar are all about rest, emotional safety, and letting yourself be cradled instead of always being the one who carries everyone else.
Persephone walks with you at the Scorpio full moon as the queen of descent and return. With her, you donāt pretend that things are fine when theyāre not. You name the transformation youāre resisting and the fears that keep you from stepping through the door that is already open.
Nyx shows up at the Pisces eclipse, inviting you into the deep, star-filled dark. Her work is about shadow wisdom, the intuition that only arrives when you stop demanding constant light and let yourself be held by night.
Nike arrives on the Sagittarius Blue Moon as the winged goddess of victory. This is the rare second full moon in one month, and her ritual is about claiming what years of pain and training have already prepared you for. She is the archetype of āI earned this.ā
Artemis closes the year under Cancerās protection as the wild huntress. With her, you reclaim instinct, boundaries, and the right to be both tender and untamed.
These are just a few of the goddesses who anchor the year. Each full moon ritual in the calendar is written in detail: how to set your space, how to move your body, what to say, what to write, and how to close the rite so you arenāt left open and raw.
If you want to walk 2026 with these goddesses month by month, you can purchase the Full Moon Goddess Calendar eBook for $7. It is made for real life, especially for women who are tired, busy, and still hungry for something sacred.
If youād rather be guided, you can join my Moon Goddess Temple on Patreon, where we do the full moon rituals together, live. You get community, replays, extra writing prompts, and ongoing support as you move through the year.
You donāt have to meet these goddesses only in myths. You can meet them on your living room floor, under every full moon of 2026.

Did you see the moon tonight? (yesterday) The moon was not full yet, but it was still such a sight.
The almost full moon, still shining bright she wasn't shy but full of pride
The full moon is a powerful spiritual symbol across cultures, representing illumination, culmination, and emotional truth. It marks the peak of the lunar cycle, when the moon reflects the sunās light in full, mirroring the moment when everything hidden within us becomes visible.
Spiritually, the full moon is a time of clarity, when intuition heightens, revelations surface, and buried emotions rise to be acknowledged. Many traditions view it as a portal for release: letting go of what no longer serves, shedding old patterns, and clearing energetic blockages.
It is also a moment of manifestation, celebration, and connection to the divine feminine, as the full moon embodies cycles, intuition, creativity, and rebirth. In essence, the full moon invites us to pause, reflect, and realign with our highest truths.
While the Greek gods often command the spotlight, the goddesses were the true architects of destiny, wielding power that shaped everything from the harvest to the human soul. They were far more than just consorts and mothers; they were warriors, queens, scholars, and hunters. Today, we celebrate the might and complexity of the Olympian goddesses.
Hera, the Queen of Olympus, was a force to be reckoned with, embodying the sanctity and struggles of marriage. Demeterās grief could halt the seasons themselves, showing the profound connection between divine emotion and the natural world. Aphrodite wielded love and desire as a universal, unstoppable power, influencing both gods and mortals alike.
Then there were the virgin goddesses, who claimed autonomy over their own bodies and domains. Athena, born from Zeus’s head, was the patron of wisdom, strategic war, and civilization. Artemis, the fierce huntress, roamed the wilds with her nymphs, protector of young women and the untamed earth. Hestia, though she gave up her throne, was the gentle, essential heart of every home and city.
These goddesses, along with chthonic (underworld) powers like Persephone and Hekate, present a complete picture of female divinityāone of strength, intelligence, and immense influence.
Next time, we’ll step away from the drama of Olympus to meet the gentle and essential Hestia.

When we hear names like Zeus, Athena, or Apollo, we often picture majestic marble statues or dramatic scenes from movies. But for the ancient Greeks, these gods were the fundamental forces that shaped their world, their culture, and their understanding of life itself. They were a complex family of immortals, each with their own domain, personality, and flaws, reflecting the full spectrum of human experience.
Today, we’re starting a journey to meet the Olympians, the divine rulers who called Mount Olympus their home.
Where Did the Gods Come From? It All Started with Chaos
Before the familiar gods of Olympus, there was onlyĀ Chaos.
From Chaos emerged the first primordial deities, includingĀ Gaia (Earth)Ā andĀ Ouranos (Sky). Their union created theĀ Titans, the first rulers of the cosmos.
The most important Titan, Cronus, overthrew his father Ouranos. Fearing a prophecy that he too would be overthrown by his own child, Cronus swallowed each of his children at birth. His wife, Rhea, desperate to save her youngest, Zeus, tricked Cronus by giving him a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes. The infant Zeus was hidden away and raised in secret.
When he came of age, Zeus forced Cronus to disgorge his siblings: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon. What followed was a cataclysmic war known as the Titanomachy, where Zeus and his siblings fought the Titans for supremacy. Victorious, the three brothers drew lots to divide the world:
Zeus: King of the Gods and ruler of the Sky.
Poseidon: God of the Seas, Earthquakes, and Horses.
Hades: God of the Underworld and ruler of the Dead.
With the cosmos divided, a new era began, the age of theĀ Olympian Gods.
