As the holiday season surrounds us with lights, laughter, and the allure of perfectly wrapped gifts under the tree, it’s easy to get caught up in the material side of Christmas. My short poem, “Christmas Cheer,” is a playful yet ironic take on this very aspect of the festivities.
The poem paints a picture of a neatly wrapped gift under the tree, a symbol of effort and loveābut also of a tapped-out pocket. Itās a light-hearted observation of how we sometimes go overboard with spending, letting the shine of the material overshadow the deeper, spiritual essence of the season.
Christmas, at its core, is about connection, joy, and love. The wrapping paper and ribbons are delightful, yes, but the true cheer lies in the moments we create with loved onesāthe laughter, the warmth, and the shared memories that no amount of money can buy.
